Exercise for People with Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s Disease affects around 1 in 500 people in the UK. It is commonly diagnosed in people over the age of 60 but can affect people of any age.

There is increasing research highlighting the importance of Physiotherapy and exercise for people with Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s UK advise that exercise can be as important as medication in managing Parkinson’s Disease. It’s important to remember that you can exercise at any stage of Parkinson’s. Some people are able to play competitive sports like tennis, while others can do chair based exercises. You can get advice on exercise from your specialist nurse, consultant or Parkinson’s UK.
