Occupational therapy assessments available in Bristol and North Somerset
Occupational therapy home visit service is now available in Bristol and North Somerset. The Royal College of Occupational Therapy explains that an occupational therapist helps people of all ages overcome challenges completing everyday tasks or activities – what we call ‘occupations’.
Occupational therapists see beyond diagnoses and limitations to hopes and aspirations. They look at relationships between the activities you do every day – your occupations – alongside the challenges you face and your environment.
Then, they create a plan of goals and adjustments targeted at achieving a specific set of activities. The plan is practical, realistic and personal to you as an individual, to help you achieve the breakthroughs you need to elevate your everyday life.
This support can give people a renewed sense of purpose. It can also open up new opportunities and change the way people feel about the future.
Our occupational therapy and physiotherapy combined service addresses any equipment and sensory needs alongside rehabilitation to maximise movement.
Occupational and physiotherapy are closely related and in the NHS are often offered together where the therapists work as a team to support people to be as independent as happy with their daily life as possible.
Contact us any time to discuss whether occupational therapy is right for you.
The occupational therapist will come to your home at a time that is convenient to you.
We will start by asking you about your experience of your condition, what you are struggling with and what you want to achieve. It is important for us to know what you are hoping to get out of having therapy so that we are sure we are targeting our treatment specifically for you. Sometimes we need to take measurements to ensure that seating or other equipment is optimised for you. We often work alongside the physiotherapists so you will have a team approach to your care.
After your assessment, we will trial some different treatment approaches to see what will fit your needs best. We will always be led by what you would like to do!
